If you want to remote control the camera from one of these computers, I do not think there is such an app that will give anything like the operability of the Panasonic Image App for mobile devices. I think recall hearing that Panasonic might have enabled this for the first time with the GX8.
Tethering involves transferring photos from the camera to a computer over a USB cable as they are shot, and I know this does not work with my GX7. Otherwise, to transfer photos to a PC or Mac or Chromebook, the USB cable or swapping the USB card is the way to go.
The fastest and easiest way to tether the computer to the camera is to an Android or iPad tablet through the app supplied free and for that purpose, wirelessly.
